Former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff on Friday extended support to Kevin Pietersen, who was recently fined by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for tweeting against Nick Knight.
Last week, England batting star Pietersen took to Twitter to question the credentials of Knight, who averaged just 23.96 in 17 Tests with one hundred, as a Test match commentator for Sky Sports.
Pietersen was fined an “undisclosed sum” by the ECB on Wednesday following the attack.
“Can someone please tell me how Nick Knight has worked his way into the commentary box for the Tests? Ridiculous,” said Pietersen, who has 20 Test hundreds to his credit.
Flintoff wrote on Twitter, “Found it amazing that @kevinpp24 got fined for criticising a bloke who gets paid to criticise!”
The former cricketer added on a lighter note, “Not heard @kevinpp24 s mate Nick on sky today is he there or has he been relagated to village cricket!”
Flintoff said he would have got fined almost every day during his playing days.
“Just as well I wasn’t on twitter when I played . Would have been fined everyday,” he added.
