Flintoff finishes arduous 1,200 km Amazon bike ride

London: Mar 25, 2014
Former England cricket captain Andrew Flintoff recently finished an arduous 1,200 km bike ride through the heart of the Amazon. A self-confessed environmental skeptic, the cricketer is not much of a cycling lover.
According to the Independent, the cricketer pedalled along the Trans-Amazonian Highway, built by the Brazilian military dictatorship in the early 1970s.
Flintoff’s grueling bike-ride was reportedly motivated by his young children, who happened to learn about the plight of the rainforest in school.
He played 79 Tests, 141 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and seven Twenty20 Internationals. Flintoff was England’s star performer when they regained the Ashes in the 2005 series against Australia.
