Afghanistan have appointed Andy Moles as the coach of their national cricket team on Thursday. Moles is a former coach of New Zealand. He managed the Kiwis in 2008 for an year. Earlier, Afghanistan’s regular coach Kabir Khan had resigned citing family reasons.

”I have resigned from coach’s post. The simple reason is that my family was suffering from my being away on tours and I was not enjoying coaching,” Kabir had said.
He had denied any interference from the board which was a cause for him moving away after the first stint as coach of the team. “No, there was no interference. When you don’t enjoy your work it’s not advisable to continue and let another man do the job because Afghanistan are going to play in an important event.”

Moles was the most likely candidate to replace Kabir as he was also the batting consultant when Kabir was in charge of the team.
