Ankeet Chavan’s girlfriend of eight years, Neha Sambari, said that she will marry the tainted cricketer on Sunday and not for once she felt like backing out.
“I will wed Ankeet on Sunday, but I am already married to the family. I did not even once think of backing out,” she was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror. She added, “I am already wedded to his family.”
“His family did ask me to take a day or two to think, but I told them that I don’t have an iota of doubt that he is innocent.”
Chavan, who was arrested on allegations of spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League 2013, was released from Tihar Jail, a day after a court granted him bail to solemnise his marriage.
He was arrested along with his Rajasthan Royals teammates S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila on May 16 by Delhi Police’s Special Cell.
Chavan had to deposit two sureties of Rs 1 lakh each and a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh with the court before he was granted bail.

Later on he was suspended by Air India, for which he used to play.
Sambari and Chavan started dating during their college days. They used to study in DG Ruparel College, Mumbai. They got engaged on July 1 last year.
She said, “I have known him for eight years. If I don’t stand by him in these trying times, who will?”
Chavan stays at an independent bungalow next to Ulta apartments on Dilip Gupte Road near Shivaji Park and Sambari is a resident of Borivili.
Chavan’s uncle Ajay Chavan said, “She [Neha] prays for four hours every day for Ankeet. I think that the fact that wedding is taking place as scheduled is only because of her prayers.”
Keshav Karapurkar, Sambari’s cousin said, “She has been going around shopping like any other girl who is about to be married would.”
