Arjun Tendulkar makes his debut in West Zone league

Jan 24, 2014
Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar made his Mumbai age group debut for Mumbai Under-14 team against Gujarat Under-14 team in West Zone league. Actually, he was picked in the Mumbai Under-14 squad last year too, but couldn’t make it into the playing eleven during that time.
His mother, Anjali Tendulkar and the batting legend, and his famous father though, didn’t come to watch him take on Gujarat. Yet, were seen at the club house of the Wankhede stadium, a day before the match, to wish him best of luck, as reported by India Today.

Actually, that turned out to be a good luck charm, as Arjun Tendulkar snared the first Gujarat wicket to go down with his left arm medium pace. The general feeling is that Arjun Tendulkar is more of a batsman who bowls. In the end, Gujarat were bowled out for 150.
With similar mannerisms of his famous father, Arjun Tendulkar walked into the middle. His mannerisms ranged from touching the grass, having a look towards the heavens and even digging dirt off the wicket. He at times, played and missed, before being dismissed for a fine innings of 36. Arjun Tendulkar surely did not let the selectors down, who picked him for the match. He though, certainly has a long way to go to make a name for himself in the game.
