Asad Shafiq was the ninth wicket to fall for Pakistan for 137. Shafiq was Trent Boult’s fourth victim for the innings, also his 99th Test scalp. The stand between Asad Shafiq and Rahat Ali was proving to be a bit of a nuisance for the Kiwis as they’ve been on the threshold of a famous win but kept waiting courtesy a dogged performance from the Pakistan lower order.

Pakistan need another 81 runs to make New Zealand bat again. In the meantime, New Zealand are just one wicket away from leveling the three match Test series one a piece. This will be New Zealand’s first Test match victory over Pakistan outside New Zealand since the year 1996. This will also be their first Test match victory in the sub continent since their win in Colombo over Sri Lanka in 2012. While this is Pakistan’s first Test match loss this season at their adopted home, i.e the UAE. They had earlier White washed Australia two nil followed by a victory over New Zealand in the first Test and a draw vs New Zealand again, in the second Test of this series.
