Asghar Stanikzai, the all-round has become the new captain of the Afghanistan team. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) selected him to lead the national team after Mohammad Nabi’s resignation on Sunday. Nabi led Afghanistan in their first ever ICC Cricket World Cup recently. Meanwhile, the hope will be high from Stanikzai, who had a decent World Cup in Australia- New Zealand recently.

However on Sunday, Nabi has resigned from post of Afghanistan Captain citing his waning form and the poor performances of his team in recent times as factors. He made his intentions known to the ACB on April 19. “I have served Afghanistan’s national team as captain for more than two years. I tried my best to bring victories to our team and the nation,” he wrote to the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
