The first Ashes 2013-14 Test between Australia and England begins on Thursday in Brisbane at the Gabba. Australia have not won the Ashes since the 2006-07 series. England will be looking for a fourth successive Ashes crown.

Michael Clarke won the toss and elected to bat first. George Bailey makes his Test debut for Australia and that adds balance to the Australian middle-order. Mitchell Johnson is also in the side and James Faulkner is the 12th man.

Michael Carberry will open the England innings with captain Alastair Cook. Chris Tremlett is the third seamer in the bowling department.

In the 2013 Ashes series, England won 3-0. Although, the eventual scoreline seemed convincing, Australia had their moments and if luck favoured them at crucial times, the final outcome could have been different.
