Ashes 2013 Live Cricket Score: England vs Australia, 2nd Test Day 2 at Lord's

England were at 289 for seven at stumps on Day One of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s on Thursday. England captain Alastair Cook had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Australia began well as they took three early wickets when the score was 28. Then Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell put together a 99-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Trot then departed for a well made 58. Then Jonny Bairstow came to the crease and stitched a partnership worth 144 runs for the fifth wicket with Bell.

Bell scored his 19th Test century and fourth at Lord’s. This was his second consecutive ton of the series. Bell then departed for 109 and Bairstow was dismissed for 67 by Steven Smith. The leg-spinner then had Matt Prior stumped as well.

Smith was the pick of the Australian bowlers with three wickets. Ryan Harris, who replaced Mitchell Starc at the start of the Test, also took three wickets albeit all were early in the innings. Shane Watson took the important wicket of Alastair Cook.

Tim Bresnan (7), who replaced Steven Finn, and James Anderson (4) are at the crease.

England 289 for 7 (Ian Bell 109, Jonny Bairstow 67, Jonathan Trott 58; Steven Smith 3 for 18, Ryan Harris 3 for 43) vs Australia.
