Australia will resume their first innings on 307 for four on Day Two of the fifth Ashes Test at The Oval. Steven Smith (66 not out) and Peter Siddle (18 not out) are at the crease for the visitors.

Australian skipper Michael Clarke will be really happy with his team’s effort on Day One after winning the toss and opting to bat. Shane Watson exorcised all his demons of the past by scoring a magnificent century to take Australia to a position of superiority. He shared a 145-run partnership with Smith to put the tourists in the driving seat.

Watson fell at the fag end of the day but only after making his highest Test score ever. James Anderson picked up two wickets for England while Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad bagged one each. England will be looking to get some early wickets today and restrict Australia to a sub-400 total.
