Matt Prior has said he is confident that the England team will come good in the Ashes and that they will be too strong for Australia in the upcoming series, which begins on July 10 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

The wicketkeeper has been part of one of the most successful England sides for the last couple of years. He said that their eternal rivals will find it extremely difficult to compete against a highly confident English team, reports The Daily Star.

“Any Ashes series is tough and the Australians are a really good team. We’re going to have to play well to win but I’m confident in the team we have — we have some fantastic players,” said the Sussex wicketkeeper.

“Guys who have now broken records, like Alastair Cook, who has the most Test centuries of any England cricketer, and Jimmy Anderson who has more international wickets than any England cricketer.

“If those guys perform well, and we perform well as a team — which is the most important thing — I’m sure we’ll have success. For any England cricketer, to be part of the Ashes is the biggest thing.

“It’s really exciting and everyone is looking forward to it. You can feel the pressure and tension building already.”
