Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne criticised England players for their ‘crass and arrogant’ prank when England celebrated after winning the Ashes at The Oval.

Following England’s series victory with the fifth Test ending in a dramatic draw, reports suggested that some of the English players urinated on The Oval pitch as they were celebrating their triumph. “Unfortunately the way people are judged these days it’s best to celebrate within the confines of the dressing room. Stay in there as long as you like, get as drunk as you like if that is what you want to do and enjoy your teammates and the moment,” Warne was reported saying this by Sydney Morning Herald.

He said: “But to go and disrespect something as ancient as the Oval pitch in such an unnecessary and crass way is a pretty ordinary and arrogant thing to do. I wonder also if the opposition was mentioned too.”
An investigation has been launched and it is likely that Surrey are likely to ask England Cricket Board (ECB) to apologise for the behaviour of England players.
