I don t know what will come next. I haven t sat down and decided what to do next. Maybe it will be coaching or maybe it will be commentary, Ashish Nehra had stated the day after his international retirement. After much speculation, he has now decided to join the Hindi commentary panel for the upcoming IndiaSri Lanka Test series starting Thursday. Star Sports has confirmed the news on their official Twitter handle, while Virender Sehwag shared his excitement of sharing the commentary box with his friend and Delhi and India teammate. Sehwag and Nehra go back a long way, to the days when they practised cricket together and took turns in riding the same scooter.

Nehra made his international debut in 1999 but had a career filled with injuries. He had to undergo 12 surgeries. He finally called it quits on November 1 after the first T20I against New Zealand. He represented India in 17 Tests, 120 ODIs and 27 T20Is, taking 44, 157 and 34 wickets in the three formats respectively. Nehra s most memorable performance (6 for 23) came in the group stage encounter versus England in 2003 World Cup. He was also a part of India s 2011 World Cup winning squad.

One can expect a lot of friendly banter and entertainment with stalwarts and prot g s like Sehwag, Nehra and VVS Laxman in the commentary panel during the India-Sri Lanka Test series. The first Test will be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
