There you have it folks. No team wins. Honestly, no team deserved to.

Afghanistan have continued to punch above their weight in the Asia Cup. After a spirited showing that almost got them home against Pakistan the other night, they dished out yet another inspiring performance, one that resulted in a dramatic last-over tie against India the penultimate Super four match of the tournament.

Ravindra Jadeja had shepherded the tail until only one was needed off two balls, before Afghanistan cricket’s superstar had him out caught to the only fielder in the deep. No provision of a super over meant that India remain unbeaten heading into the final on Friday. As for Afghanistan, they would head home proud of the fact that they didn’t lose to the No.1 ranked side in the world.

  • 1:59 AM IST

It’s a tie. What a finish. One needed off two and Jadeja finds the fielder in the deep. Afghanistan are jubilant!

  • 1:01 AM IST

Two run outs for India in quick succession. 8 needed off seven balls. Last wicket remains.

  • 12:52 AM IST

It’s getting tense folks. India need 13 in two overs with three wickets remaining. Can India hang on, or will Afghanistan script their most famous ODI win?

  • 12:17 AM IST

Advantage Afghanistan! It’s taken them five deliveries to send back the two set batsmen – Karthik and Jadhav. Jadhav was run out at the non striker’s end as the ball deflected off bowler Mujeeb’s hands to hit the stumps. Karthik was plain unlucky. The ball was going down leg but the umpire thought otherwise. India 6 down for 208. They need 46 off 59.

  • 12:02 AM IST

200 up for India. Karthik and Jadhav have put on 36 off 41 to bring the equation down to 51 off 75. Afghanistan are trying but these two batsmen are just ahead by that much.

  • 11:48 PM IST

Nice little period of play in progress. Afghanistan are operating through Rashid and Mujeeb. India batting with Jadhav and Karthik. Let us not forget that Ravindra Jadeja is the only other specialist batsman to come. A wicket here and it’ll make things tough for India. Boundaries have been few in the last 10 overs. India need 69 off 96 with six wickets in hand.

  • 11:29 PM IST

There goes another one. A lazy swing outside off from Manish Pandey and India are FOUR down for 166. Ok then, this is not as easy as one would have thought. Aftab Alam picks up his first wicket. The tricky part for India however, is that Rashid, Mujeeb and Nabi still have a few overs left between them. Stay tuned people, this one has all the makings of a great finish.

OUT! Big wicket. MS Dhoni goes. Javed Ahmadi gets the Indian captain out LBW. Dhoni looks upset with the decission but he has no review left. KL Rahul had wasted it earlier. It’s as if he is still in England, where India were driven by this need to review everything under the sun. The ball tracker suggests that it would have missed the leg stump, by some five cms. India three down for 142. This should inspire Afghanistan to get some more.

  • 10:45 PM IST

OUT! KL Rahul goes, attempts a reverse sweep and fails to but bat to ball. Goes for a review but gets all 4 reds. Bad shot to play against Rashid who bowls flat and quick. India 2 down for 128 after 21 overs.

  • 10:31 PM IST

Meanwhile, playing his first game of the Asia Cup, KL Rahul brings up his second ODI half-century.

  • 10:28 PM IST

WICKET! Afghanistan strike against the run of play. Ambati Rayudu lofts one into the night sky but as the ball starts decending, you realise it hasn’t got the distance. Najibullah Zadran takes a fine catch at long-on. Mohammad Nabi takes the wicket. India 110/1 in the 18th over.

  • 10:19 PM IST

It’s pretty one-sided at the moment. India are crusising at 103/0 in 16 overs. Rayudu has brought up his half-century off 43 balls and KL Rahul is 2 short of it. It’s been an entertaining 16 hours for India with shots being played all around the park.

  • 9:54 PM IST

50 up for India in nine overs with a six from Ambati Rayudu. He’s in IPL mode, with three fours and two sixes. Rahul getting into the groove as well. Afghanistan had their moment in the sun but there is a reason why India’s batting is known all around the world. Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s biggest wicket-taker is not a hundred percent since going down earlier during Afghanistan’s innings. After 9.3 over, Afghanistan were 63/0. India are a run ahead.

  • 9:45 PM IST

    Indian openers begin well

KL Rahul and Ambati Rayudu, India’s openers, have set the ball rolling. After seven overs, they have taken the score to 37 for no loss, playing some lovely strokes. Rahul sent the first ball of the innings for a four after which Rayudu took over. He survived a leg before wicket shout that would have resulted in his dismissal had Afghanistan taken the review. But they didn’t. Mujeeb and Rashid have slowed things down.
  • 8:41 PM IST

There we have it. Afghanistan finish on 252/8 as India pull back tremendously in the last five overs to give away just 24 runs. Once Mohammad Nabi fell, Afghanistan’s scoring rate took a hit. Superb bowling in the death by Khaleel Ahmed and Siddharth Kaul. India need 253 at five runs an over. Only once has a 250-plus total been chased in this Asia Cup. Will India be the second team to gun it down? Stay tuned, we’ll be back soon.

  • 8:13 PM IST

OUT! The wicket has arrived, Jadeja provides the breakthrough with the wicket of Najibullah Zadran. His partnership of 46 with Mohammad Nabi was beginning to look threatening. Nabi is still out there having registered his half-century and has tonked some big ones. Three sixes and three fours and giving him company now is Rashid. Can AFG get to 260 from here. Seven down for 226 with 5 left.

  • 8:00 PM IST

Nabi and Najibullah set the ball rolling. 17 just came off Kuldeep Yadav’s over. Afghanistan have brought up their 200 and will surely eye 250 or even 275 from here. 214/6 in 42.1 overs.

  • 7:46 PM IST

OUT! India finally see the back of Shahzad. Smart catch from Dinesh Karthik off the bowling of Kedar Jadhav. The big man went for a big one but for the first time today, Shahzad didn’t quite middle it. Aghanistan’s promising sixth wicket stand has been snapped. 6 down for 180 with 12 overs left.

  • 7:08 PM IST

OUT! Just when Afghanistan were beginning to build a partnership, Deepak Chahar gets his maiden ODI wicket. Gulbadin departs, leaving the team at 132/5. Good comeback for the youngster after being taken apart by Shahzad early in the innings.

  • 7:03 PM IST

And there it is. Century no. 5 for Mohammad Shahzad. Comes off 88 balls, 14 fours and 6 sixes. Pure entertainment it’s been. He took a while to get those last 15 runs but it was needed to put Afghanistan back on track. Right now. The 100 is up. Will we see him go for the big ones again. Afghanistan are 131/4 in 28.1 overs.

  • 6:59 PM IST

    Shahzad firm, Afghanistan fight back

After losing four wickets quickly, Afghanistan are slowly rebuilding through Ahmad Shahzad and Gulbadin Naib. They’ve put 45 off 75 balls and gotten their side to 127/4 in 28 overs. Shahzad is on 99 and approaching his fifth ODI century.
  • 6:19 PM IST

Afghanistan lose plot after Shahzad fifty

India have come back strongly after Mohammad Shahzad’s bullish half-century. They’ve removed three more after Ahmadi’s dismissal. Kuldeep struck twice in two balls and was on a hat-trick. Hashmatullah Shahidi was out stumped and skipper Asghar Afghan was bowled first ball. The spinners have outdone Shahzad’s effort. And if they get him, they would target restricting AFG to around 120.
  • 6:01 PM IST

That’s OUT! Lightening quick work from Dhoni behind the stumps as Afghanistan lose Javed Ahmadi for 5 off 30. Ravindra Jadeja gets the breakthrough. Afghanistan have 65 on the board but won’t be worked up much because Mohammad Shahzad is going bananas at the other end.

  • 5:45 PM IST

Afghanistan reach their fifty in 8.2 overs, and so does Ahmad Shahzad. Yes, that’s correct. He has bullied his way to a 14th half-century in ODIs. He has scored 56 off Afghanistan’s 63 runs so far. He is punishing the Indian attack at the moment.

  • 5:22 PM IST

    Afghanistan off to a flyer

Nerves showing on the face of Deepak Chahar. Gets taken for 17 runs by Mohammad Shahzad in the 4th over. A BEAMER, 2 windes, a SIX and a FOUR.
  • 4:45 PM IST

Afghanistan have made two changes: Samiullah Shenwari and Ihsanullah make way for Javed Ahmadi and Najibullah Zadran.

  • 4:44 PM IST

Says Dhoni at the toss: “We were looking to bowl first. Everybody who had not played gets a chance.”

  • 4:43 PM IST

This is Dhoni’s 200th ODI as captain. Only Ricky Ponting (230) and Stephen Fleming (218) before him.

Asia Cup 2018, India vs Afghanistan, LIVE Cricket Score, Super Four, Dubai: Rashid clinches last-ball tie for Afghanistan

After having shaken off the dust in a lacklustre performance against Hong Kong in their 2018 Asia Cup opener, India have mauled over their oppositions with huge defeats, including two massive victories over Pakistan.

Having sealed their place in the summit clash on Friday after two wins in the Super Four matches – one over Bangladesh and Pakistan – India face Afghanistan in their last Super Four match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

After a last-over loss to Pakistan in their Super Four round, Afghanistan came agonisingly close to another win against Bangladesh, but were too close, yet too far for a win, and lost by three runs on Sunday.
