It’s going rather easy for India at the moment. Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu look in no trouble whatsover, just jaywalking towards the targer. They just need another 33 runs to win and go top of the group.

Shikhar Dhawan OUT! Cuts it straight to Babar Azam at point off Faheem Ashraf. India lose their second wicket but at a time when they need just another 56 to win.

WICKET! Shadab Khan foxes Rohit with a googly first up. The ball goes through between bat and pad and hits the stumps. The legspinner has clean bowled the Indian captain. India lose their first for 86. A little too late for Pakistan maybe?

And that’s a HALF-CENTURY from Rohit Sharma off 36 deliveries. The captain leading from the front. It’s been a treat to watch him bat. Tremendous transformation after beginning watchfully. India 86/0 in 13 overs.

India 52/0 in 9 overs: India are starting to break the shackles here. Between overs 7 to 10, Rohit and Dhawan have scored 25 runs. The Indian skipper is beginning to open his arms. Having struck back to back boundaries off Amir, Rohit tonked Usman Khan for SIX, FOUR, SIX in the eighth over. India motoring along now.

Rohit, Dhawan watchful in chase of 163: This is just what was required for India to do. A required rate of just over three, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have been cautious against the new ball attack of Mohammad Amir and Usman Khan. The pacers have their tail up and racking up some serious pace, but India’s openers are up to the challenge. India slow, but watchful at 17/0 after six overs.

UPDATE: According to a statement from the BCCI, Hardik Pandya is currently able to stand after being stretchered off the field earlier today. Apparently, Pandya has sustained an acute lower back injury. Stay tuned for further information. We’ll keep you posted.

Alright then. The second innings has begun and Mohammad Amir has started off by conceding two in his opening over. 163 is no formidable target but Pakistan sure have the firepower in their bowling attack to make something of this match. India have plenty of time to get these runs so Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma must look to play out the first 10 overs cautiously.

  • 8:15 PM IST

ALL OUT – 162 is what Pakistan could manage in 43.1 overs. All the talks were about the form of Pakistan;s top-order, but once India send back the openers and then Babar Azam, Pakistan’s inexperienced middle-order imploded against the spin, or the lack of it, from KEdar Jadhav. Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jadhav claimed three each. For Pakistan Babar Azam top-scored with 47, while Shoaib Malik made 43 before he was run-out.
