It’s going rather easy for India at the moment. Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu look in no trouble whatsover, just jaywalking towards the targer. They just need another 33 runs to win and go top of the group.

  • 10:22 PM IST

Shikhar Dhawan OUT! Cuts it straight to Babar Azam at point off Faheem Ashraf. India lose their second wicket but at a time when they need just another 56 to win.

  • 10:06 PM IST

WICKET! Shadab Khan foxes Rohit with a googly first up. The ball goes through between bat and pad and hits the stumps. The legspinner has clean bowled the Indian captain. India lose their first for 86. A little too late for Pakistan maybe?

  • 10:00 PM IST

And that’s a HALF-CENTURY from Rohit Sharma off 36 deliveries. The captain leading from the front. It’s been a treat to watch him bat. Tremendous transformation after beginning watchfully. India 86/0 in 13 overs.

  • 9:41 PM IST

India 52/0 in 9 overs: India are starting to break the shackles here. Between overs 7 to 10, Rohit and Dhawan have scored 25 runs. The Indian skipper is beginning to open his arms. Having struck back to back boundaries off Amir, Rohit tonked Usman Khan for SIX, FOUR, SIX in the eighth over. India motoring along now.

  • 9:22 PM IST

Rohit, Dhawan watchful in chase of 163: This is just what was required for India to do. A required rate of just over three, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have been cautious against the new ball attack of Mohammad Amir and Usman Khan. The pacers have their tail up and racking up some serious pace, but India’s openers are up to the challenge. India slow, but watchful at 17/0 after six overs.

  • 9:06 PM IST

UPDATE: According to a statement from the BCCI, Hardik Pandya is currently able to stand after being stretchered off the field earlier today. Apparently, Pandya has sustained an acute lower back injury. Stay tuned for further information. We’ll keep you posted.

  • 8:59 PM IST

Alright then. The second innings has begun and Mohammad Amir has started off by conceding two in his opening over. 163 is no formidable target but Pakistan sure have the firepower in their bowling attack to make something of this match. India have plenty of time to get these runs so Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma must look to play out the first 10 overs cautiously.

  • 8:15 PM IST

ALL OUT – 162 is what Pakistan could manage in 43.1 overs. All the talks were about the form of Pakistan;s top-order, but once India send back the openers and then Babar Azam, Pakistan’s inexperienced middle-order imploded against the spin, or the lack of it, from KEdar Jadhav. Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jadhav claimed three each. For Pakistan Babar Azam top-scored with 47, while Shoaib Malik made 43 before he was run-out.

  • 8:01 PM IST

OUT! Pakistan eight down for 158. Jasprit Bumrah returns to dismiss Faheem Ashraf, after he and Mohammad Amir had put on 37 runs for the eighth wicket. Faheem skies the ball and Dhawan makes no mistakes. The pat of the thighs and the moustache twirl. India would be looking to bundle Pakistan inside 180 now.

  • 7:53 PM IST

There haven’t been many positive posts about Pakistan but here comes one. Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Amir have put together a nice little 35-run partnership for the eighth wicket. They have taken Pakistan to 157/7 in 40 overs. But here is where it gets tough for them. There’s till some way to go but can Pakistan get to 200 here?

  • 7:33 PM IST

  • 7:29 PM IST

OUT! Pakistan lose wicket number 7. And it’s that man again, Kedar Jadhav. Shadab Khan fails to connect a quicker ball and comes outside his crease. A lightning-quick MS Dhoni does the rest behind the stumps. Pakistan in all sorts of trouble here at 121/7.

  • 7:10 PM IST

Another one goes down! Pakistan are sliding. Sixth wicket goes down for 110. Asif Ali edges Kedar Jadhav to Dhoni. It’s a wicket maiden for India’s man with the golden arm. Wickets are tumbling here in Dubai.

  • 7:06 PM IST

RUN-OUT! Shoaib Malik finds himself at the receiving end of a direct hit from Ambati Rayudu. Pakistan 5 down for 100. Great comeback from India. Moreoever, this has been such an upgrade from last night’s game against Hong Kong. What can Pakistan conjure?

  • 6:56 PM IST

OUT! Pakistan lose their captain. They are 96/4 in 24.5 overs. What a catch from substitute fielder Manish Pandey, who pulls off one of those brilliant ones at the boundary. Sarfraz hits the ball, and Pandey, running in from long-on, takes the catch. But his momentum seems to be taking him over the boundary. He throws it in the air, gets back in and holds on to it well. Brilliant piece of fielding. Kedar Jadhav with the wicket.

  • 6:50 PM IST

Oh no! What’s happened there? Bhuvneshwar over runs at deepmidwicket and a chance goes begging. Malik stepped out to Kuldeep and aired the ball. Bhuvneshwar came running in but it were about five steps too many and the ball landed behind him. Kuldeep is not happy. Malik was on his way back to the dressing room, but he will stay on for now. This could have been a crucial wicket for India.

  • 6:44 PM IST

WICKET – Kuldeep has completely bamboozled Babar Azam this time and boy, he is absolutely pumped up. He slips in the googly around middle and leg and it dips on Babar as well. He is down the track but has no clue about it. Pushes at it but misses it completely to get the bails of his stumps dislodged. He looks back and thinks that Dhoni has lost the ball and he has a chance to come back in. However, he realizes that the ball had hit the timber

  • 6:28 PM IST

Oh oh! What has happened here? Hardik Pandya has gone down in his follow through and been stretchered off the field. Unfortuante. He was attended by the physio as he lay motionless on the ground. Not a sight you’d want to see.

  • 6:15 PM IST

Dropped! India had a chance to break this partnership but MS Dhoni has put it down. The ball was dying on him and Dhoni got his hand to it, but the ball just did not stick. Reprieve for Shoaib Malik. Pakistan 60/2 in 16 overs. Commenadable effort by Shoaib and Babar bring Pakistan this far from 3/2.

  • 6:00 PM IST

Pakistan attempt at rebuilding: Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik have weathered the early storm and taken Pakistan to 39/2 in 10 overs. Babar has struck four boundaries during his 32-ball 23, while Malik is on 22 off 28. Crucial next half an hour for Pakistan. So is for India. Kuldeep Yadav has been brought on.

  • 5:27 PM IST

OUT! Big wicket. It’s Fakhar Zaman, the hero of the Champions Trophy final, who goes for a nine-ball DUCK. Miscues a pull and Chahal holds on to the catch. Bhuvneshwar is back in groove. Two in two for him. Pakistan 4/2 in 5 overs.

  • 5:20 PM IST

Back-to-back maidens from Jasprit Bumrah. Anyone saw that coming after he had overstepped during last year’s Champions Trophy?

  • 5:17 PM IST

OUT! First wicket down for Pakistan. Bhuvneshwar Kumar provides the first breakthrough. The pressure of a maiden in the last over gets to Imam Ul Haq, who plays a strange shot, walking down the wicket and edging it to Dhoni. Indian team delighted. Yesterday they had to wait 34 overs to get a wicket. Here they’ve taken 13 deliveries.

  • 4:55 PM IST
