AUS vs IND 5th Test Day 2 Live Updates: Second day draws to a close

The second day of the fifth Border-Gavaskar series Test has come to an end here in Sydney with India on 141/6 and leading by 145 runs. Ravindra Jadeja is batting on 8 from 39 deliveries while Washington Sundar is batting on 6 from 17 deliveries. The third day is expected to be just as gripping as the second day was.

Scott Boland gets his fourth wicket of the innings and it comes in the form of Nitish Kumar Reddy, who heads back to the dugout after scoring just 5 runs. India now stands on 129/6 and lead by 133 runs.

Rishabh Pant’s eventful knock is brought to an end by Australia skipper Pat Cummins. The wicketkeeper-batter departs after playing a valiant innings of 61 runs from just 33 deliveries. India have now been restricted to 124/5 and currently lead by 128 runs.

The India wicketkeeper-batter has gone berserk here in Sydney and has completed his half-century after facing just 29 deliveries. Pant looks in no mood to stop anytime soon and is currently carrying the Indian team’s total on his back. In this explosive innings, he has so far scored 6 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Australia all-rounder Beau Webster gets his maiden wicket in Test cricket in the form of Shubman Gill, who continues his woeful form in the format and departs after scoring just 13 runs. India now stand on 78/4 after 16 overs.

Once again the star India batter edges a delivery to the slips and Steve Smith takes an easy catch to dismiss him for just 6 runs. Boland gets his and Australia’s third wicket to restrict India to 59/3.

Australia pacer Scott Boland once again proves to be the Indian team’s nemesis and dismisses both openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul in quick succession. India now down to 48/2 after 10 overs and currently lead by 52 runs.

Mohammed Siraj came as the bowler to take the final wicket of Australia, bowled out Scott Boland. Australia ended their first innings with 181 on the board.

Nitish Kumar Reddy came in to bowl with the sole purpose to take wickets. He has taken wicket after wicket. Reddy found the 8th wicket for India as Mitchell Starc got caught out by KL Rahul. India’s hunt for a wicket is finally over as Prasidh Krishna has bowled out Alex Carey. This wicket came as a small relief for India as the team is constantly under pressure to keep Australia in as small of a total as possible. Australia 137/6 after 38 overs, trail by 48 runs.

The post-lunch session has begun well. Australia 121/5 after 35 overs, trail by 64 runs.

The players are back on the field after the lunch break and the second session of the day has started.

the first session of the day has come to an end with a lunch break. Australian team is 101/5 after 29 overs, and will be starting the second session as they trail India by 84 runs.

After giving out crucial runs in his starting overs, Prasidh Krishna has now redeemed himself as he took the much-important wicket of Steve smith, caught by KL Rahul at second slip. Half of the Australian team down at 96 on 28 overs, trail by 89 runs.

The first session is coming towards its end as Mohammed Siraj and other bowlers are making sure to not give a lot of runs. Australia 79/4 after 25 overs, trail by 106 runs.

Australian team going nice and at a decent pace. Australia 66/4 after 20 overs, trail by 119 runs.

Quite ups and downs for Indian side. Siraj came in and t=had taken wickets, but then Prasidh Krishna was given the bowl and gave some crucial runs to Australia. Australia 57/9 after 15 overs, trail by 128 runs.

Sam Konstas finally got been taken down. The bratty-natured youngster was getting sarcastic comments from Yashasvi Jaiswal and then also got caught by the young Indian player himself on a delivery by Mohammed Siraj.

Following that wicket, Travis Head also got dismissed on the very same over, as he got caught by KL Rahul at the second slip. Australia now at 39/4 after 12 overs, trail by 146 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah shines yet again as he has taken the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne, caught behind the wicket by Rishabh Pant. Bumrah was not late in taking the review as a very small spike on the snickometer came in clutch and confirmed the wicket. Australia 16/2 after 7 overs, trail by 169 runs.

Total 5 overs have been played by Australian batters. The team has posted a score of 13/1, as the team currently trail by 172 runs.
