Australia announces ODI and T20 squads for series against India, big challenge ahead for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

The Australian team has officially announced their ODI squad for the upcoming biggest three-match series against team India at home later this month. However, they made some good changes in the squad backs experience players.

The Australia team announced their ODI squad for the three-match series against India, Left-arm star pacer Mitchell Starc is back in the team. Starc was not a part of the ODI series against South Africa due to his workload management. However, Mitchell Marsh will continue to lead the team in ODIs after Pat Cummins’s injury. The players like Starc, Mitchell Owen, Matthew Renshaw and Matthew Short are also back in the 15-man squad.

Star Australian left-hand batter Renshaw is also back in the squad after a long time since 2022. Wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey will miss the first ODI in Perth because he will play a Sheffield Shield match against Queensland at the Adelaide Oval.

Josh Inglis has returned to the T20 squad after recovering from a minor calf injury. Nathan Ellis has also rejoined the team after missing matches to attend the birth of his first child. However, Glenn Maxwell remains unavailable due to a wrist fracture he sustained during the tour of New Zealand.

“We have named a squad for the ODI series and first two games of the T20 series as there will be some management through the back end of the series as individuals prepare for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket,” Australia chair of selector’s George Bailey said.

“The majority of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an important period in the build towards the World Cup next year, however we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test series ahead,” he added.
