Australia declared at 551 for 3 on Day Two of second Test against West Indies at Melbourne with skipper Steven Smith and Adam Voges being unbeaten. While Smith was on 134, Voges had just brought up his fourth Test century a couple of overs before the declaration. On the other hand, West Indies failed to make any breakthrough on Sunday with Usman Khawaja being the last wicket to fall from the Australian camp towards the end of Day One. West Indian openers will take the field with almost an hour’s session left before Tea and surviving against the likes of Josh Hazlewood, James Pattinson and Peter Siddle will be a huge task for the visitors. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Australia vs West Indies 2015-16, 2nd Test at Melbourne

Meanwhile, Voges continues to impress with the bat, He reached a 1000 Test runs in his debut year and he is the third batsman to do so afte rMark Taylor (1219 runs in 1989) and Alastair Cook (1013 in 2006). Kraigg Brathwaite went short on off-stump which is pulled towards the point by Voges picking up a single to complete a calendar year’s 1000 runs during Australia’s Day Two of second Test against West Indies at Melbourne on Sunday. While Voges and Taylor needed just 18 innings to achieve that feat, Cook brought up his 1000 Test runs in his debut year in 24 innings.

Earlier, Smith reached the 100-mark, it was his 13th Test hundred coming off just 38 matches. They shared an unbeaten partnership of 223 runs for the 4th wicket, but could not surpass the stand between Khawaja and Joe Burns of 258 runs for the 2nd wicket, which still remains the highest of the match. LIVE  UPDATES: Australia vs West Indies 2015-16, 2nd Test at Melbourne, Day 2
