Australia gain 503-run lead over New Zealand after Joe Burns, David Warner smash tons on Day 3 Day 3 of 1st Test

After an outstanding day in the field Australia had much more impressive day with the bat. David Warner and Joe Burns piled on runs after New Zealand was bundled for 317. Australia had a good start picking up BJ Watling early as Kane Williamson was left to bat with only the  tail -end. Williamson on the other hand looked a class apart scoring his 11th Test ton for New Zealand. Williamson is having a great couple of years for the national team. Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Johnson continued disturbing the timber picking up another 3 wicket out the 4 wicket. Australian openers ruled the roost until just before close of play with New Zealand coming back in picking up David Warner, Joe Burns, Steven Smith, Mitchell Marsh in successive overs. Mark Craig for most of the Test was unlucky before striking gold with the wickets of Warner, Burns and Marsh. David Warner and Joe Burns made a fool of the New Zealand bowling putting a 200 run stand. Burns and Warner were playing a game of cat and mouse looking to outscore each other. Burns completed his first ever Test ton with a six as the rains came calling in . After resuming play Warner got his 14th Test ton and hitting Craig all around the park before getting out to him.Warner and Burns became the first ever opening pair to put up two consecutive hundred runs stand in the same match. Joe Burns(123) was the next to go as with Steven Smith(1) and Mitchell Marsh(2) following soon.Mark Craig had figures of 3 for 46 at the end of  play. New Zealand in the morning session looked good in parts as Mitchell Johnson and Nathan Lyon picked  up the wickets of BJ Watling and Mark Craig. Watling(32) provided good support to Williamson in bring up their 50 run partnership for sixth wicket. Watling was dismissed by Johnson in his first ball of the day. Mark Craig looked at ease as New Zealand brought up their 200.Craig got out playing a extravagant shot of Nathan Lyon on the score of 24. New Zealand in the morning session looked good in parts as Mitchell Johnson and Nathan Lyon picked  up the wickets of BJ Watling and Mark Craig. Watling(32) provided good support to Williamson in bring up their 50 run partnership for sixth wicket. Watling was dismissed by Johnson in his first ball of the day.Kane Williamson on the other hand notched up his 11th Test ton for New Zealand. Starc finished off the New Zealand inning picking the two remaining wickets as New Zealand made only 325 runs
