Having retained the urn against England in The Ashes series, Australia have been dismal in the ODIs so far. They have been outplayed across departments by their English counterpart and now are on the cusp of a series whitewash having lost 3 in a row.

However, Australia pace man, Josh Hazlewood has said that Australia will do everything in their capacity to avoid a 0-5 loss, to arch rivals England. As quoted by Cricbuzz, Hazlewood said: “That is obviously the goal from here on in. England were in the same position I guess in the Test matches. There is always plenty to play for when you’re playing for your country, and it’s Australia Day on Friday obviously and the new stadium in Perth on Sunday.”

Talking about Australia’s inability to take momentum from the Tests into the ODIs, Hazlewood said: We haven’t quite transitioned from Test cricket as well as we could have. England have two sets of bowlers in some regards with only really (Chris) Woakes and (Mooen) Ali backing up, so they’re really one-day specialists and probably have showed us how to play in those regards.”

Australia will be paced with their four paceman in Sydney, a prospect the whole nation is looking forward to. Hazlewood adds, “That first 10 overs is probably the key time to take those wickets. I think we did that to a degree last time, (they were) 4-100 at some stage. You know you’re going to go for runs, it’s about taking wickets early to really get into their middle order.”

The fourth ODI will be played on Sunday at the SCG.
