Australia reeling at 239/8 at tea on Day 3 of 2nd Test against Pakistan

Australia were reeling at 239 for 8, trailing by 331 runs at tea on Day 3 of the second Test match against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Michael Clarke and Mitchell Marsh started the second session on a good note, and accumulated runs at a steady rate. Marsh played some exquisite shots, and displayed his potential with the bat in hand. Clarke, too was accumulating runs, and was on the brink of a fighting 50 when Imran Khan produced an absolute peach of a delivery to rattle his middle stump.

After Clarke, Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson failed to put up much resistance. The session was a bad one for Australia, but it was good for Marsh as an individual. He reached his half-century, and dealt the Pakistani bowlers with style. After Johnson’s departure, Marsh combined well with Peter Siddle to form an unbeaten 40-run partnership.

For Pakistan, Yasir Shah was the star, as he picked up the wickets of Haddin and Johnson. Australia are staring at a huge first innings deficit, and they’ll need some special performances from their batsman in the second innings to save the Test match.
