David Warner and Steven Smith completed the 100-run partnership in 98 deliveries for the second wicket as Australia recovered from an early blow to progress to a score of 117 for the loss of one wicket at the end of 19 overs during their ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 match against Afghanistan at the WACA Ground in Perth on Wednesday. Australia were earlier put in to bat by Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi, a decision that was welcomed by the Australian skipper Michael Clarke. Clarke announced two changes for his playing eleven, with James Faulkner and Josh Hazlewood replacing Shane Watson and Pat Cummins. Australia and Afghanistan have both won one game each in the tournament so far. Australia began the tournament in a strong manner, thrashing old foes England by 111 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Afghanistan have exceeded expectations so far in the tournament. After losing to Bangladesh by 105 runs, they nearly pulled off an unlikely victory against the 1996 world champions Sri Lanka, before a century by Mahela Jayawardene helped the Lankans win by four wickets.
