Australia earlier finished on a score of 417 for the loss of six wickets, which is currently the highest team total in a World Cup match as well as on Australian soil. The massive total was masterminded by the brilliant hitting of David Warner (178 off 133 balls), Steven Smith (95 off 98 balls) and Glenn Maxwell 88 from 39. Warner’s knock turned out to be the highest individual score at the venue, surpassing the previous record of 343 for five held by the same team against New Zealand in 2007.
