England are in dire straits in the first One-Day International (ODI) of the tri-series. In the first ODI at Sydney against Australia, they are already four down inside the first ten overs. Moeen Ali is the latest batsman dismissed as he tried to go over the top to James Faulkner and found the man perfectly place in the deep on the off-side.

Moeen was actually looking good after England had lost those three early wickets of Ian Bell, James Taylor and Joe Root. Moeen went inside out but was caught by Glenn Maxwell. Moeen had been looking good as he flicked one over long-on for a six and then smashed one over the off-side for a four. The huge task is now on Ravi Bopara and Eoin Morgan’s hands.

England had won the toss and had elected to bat first. Eoin Morgan has taken over Alastair Cook as captain and has some good players in the unit. Australia are not playing Mitchell Johnson in this game. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are the main fast bowlers with Xavier Doherty as the spinner.
