David Warner and Shane Watson have taken Australia’s score to 53 for one after 17 overs on Day One of the first Ashes 2013-14 Test in Brisbane at the Gabba.

Earlier, Michael Clarke won the toss and elected to bat first. Chris Rogers was the first wicket to fall in the fourth over for one off nine balls. He was surprised by the bounce from a short of a length delivery from Stuart Broad and edged it to Ian Bell at gully.

After that, both Warner and Watson have consolidated the innings. England captain Alastair Cook has used James Anderson, Broad, Chris Tremlett and Graeme Swann so far.

Warner was batting on 32 and Watson was on 14. Their partnership was worth 41 runs for the second wicket.
