After being handed a thumping defeat in the first ODI, Australia  received worrying news ahead of the second match against England. It is now being confirmed that Josh Hazlewood will miss the Brisbane ODI due to illness. He will fly back home to Sydney and get treated for a virus.

Hazlewood’s place in the side is likely to be given to Jhye Richardson. Richardson made his international debut for Australia last year in a T20I against Sri Lanka. He has been preferred over Pat Cummins, who featured all five Tests of The Ashes 2017-18. Richardson has so far played eight List-A games for Western Australia and is currently playing the BCL 2017-18 with Perth Scorchers.

With Hazlewood not in the picture, Mithcell Starc remains the only front-line bowler to feature from their Ashes line-up. Tim Paine, who missed the training session after a run-in with gastroenteritis has been declared fit to play.

Australia will look to bounce back in the 5-ODI series and level series by winning at Gabba.
