Aled Carey, the opening bowler for Golden Point Cricket Club, Australia, on Saturday bowled an over that can be termed the perfect over as he bagged two hat-tricks with six deliveries during a fourth grade Ballarat Cricket Association match. Carey pulled off a 6-wicket-haul, including the very special quadruple hat-trick, which ended the game for the opposition in the 18th over itself. With his 6th wicket of the over, Golden Point bowlers had dismissed seven of their opponents batsman with seven deliveries. However, he could not continue his spell as the East Ballarat club had only nine batsmen available to bat.

Another new ball bowler for Golden Point, Mark van de Heuvel, had already bagged 2 wickets, reducing East Ballarat to 40 for 2 in 17 overs before Carey was handed the ball in the 18th over of the innings, which turned out to be exceptional. This was also Carey s first hat-trick of his career. A bit of luck really I think. On a couple of occasions, I ve been pretty close (to a hat-trick), three or four times throughout my life. But I ve never been lucky enough to get that third one in a row. To go to the extent that I have now, I m pretty happy. I m still in shock at the moment. I don t think I ll ever do it again, Carey told The Courier later.

Here s what Golden Point Cricket Club tweeted about the spell:

In another match, Imperials bowler Nathaniel Campbell impressed one and all, bagging a 9-wicket-haul against Gormandale.
