Babar to be dropped after Champions Trophy

Pakistan was hosting an ICC tournament for the first time after almost 3 decades in the form of Champions Trophy 2025. However, as they had a disastrous performance by the team, they got knocked out from the group stage itself without a single loss on the board. The team was depending a lot from the star batter Babar Azam’s performance, however he disappointed the whole team.

Babar scored just 87 runs in two matches. 64 runs came by him in the first match against New Zealand, which he scored at a slow momentum in 90 balls. In the clash against India, he scored 23 runs. Now, after this performance, it looks like his position in the team is in trouble.

According to a report in Cricket Pakistan, Babar Azam will be removed from the T20 squad of Pakistan that will be travelling to New Zealand in order to face the Kiwis in a five-match series, beginning March 16.
There have also been discussions on putting most of the senior players to rest from this series. The management has decided to talke young players for this T20I series.

Pakistan will also play three ODI matches against the Kiwis in the same tour, and the decision of Babar playing or being rested in the series is yet to be taken by the team management.
