Bangladesh bowlers Taskin Ahmed, Arafat Sunny to undergo bowling reassessment

Bangladesh’s right-arm fast medium bowler Taskin Ahmed will have his bowling action assessed by the ICC on September 8 in Brisbane according to BCB’s media committee chairman Jalal Yunus. Yunus said that Venkatapathy Raju, Former India spinner who is currently in Bangaldesh for a short spin bowling camp, along with head coach Chandika Hathurasingha were convinced that Sunny was read to get his action tested. The BCB wanted to cleared before the series against England in October starts. “The test date is most probably September 8 in Brisbane. If that happens, we are hoping to get him [Taskin] cleared in the following 10-12 days. We are hopeful about him in the test; we feel that he has rectified his bowling action,” Yunus said as quoted by EspnCricInfo. “Arafat Sunny worked with Venkatapathy Raju and Chandika Hathurusingha recently. They are convinced that Sunny is ready for the ICC assessment along with Taskin’s. The two might go to Brisbane together,” he added. READ: Taskin Ahmed: Never needed major change in my bowling action

Both Taskin and Sunny were suspended from bowling after their bowling actions were found to be illegal during the T20 World Cup 2016 in India. Their absence from the team, came as a huge blow to Bangladesh’s campaign, and the BCB did take a chance by appealing ICC’s decision on Taskin, but they decision was upheld.

Both players invested time in domestic competitions since, to work on their bowling actions.

Meanwhile, Taskin had, after Tests conducted by the ICC and going through rehabilitation under BCB coach Mahbub Ali Zaki, said, “Taskin said, “I never really needed a major change in my bowling action, because the problem wasn’t that big. They found three deliveries faulty out of seven overs. It feels good that we have such technologies at home now. The test has given me more confidence. I have spoken to a number of experts who said that my bowling action has improved. If I keep going at this rate, I will be ready for the main test soon.”
