Bangladesh fight to post 138/7 against India in ICC World T20 2014

Bangladesh have posted a total of 138 for seven against India in the ICC World T20 2014 at Dhaka on March 28. Anamul Haque top-scored with 44 and Mahmudullah was unbeaten on 33 for Bangladesh in the Group 2 Super 10 match in the T20 World Cup. Earlier, India captain MS Dhoni had won the toss and elected to field first against Bangladesh. India have gone in with unchanged XI that beat Pakistan and West Indies. A victory for India would seal them a spot in the semi-finals. Tamim Iqbal and Anamul opened the batting for Bangladesh.

Tamim got a thick outside edge for a four over the slips on the first ball bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Anamul then punched one of the back-foot and got his first four. He then flicked one from the pads through square-leg for another four. Shikhar Dhawan got a glorious opportunity to run out Tamim. But he missed from probably a yard as Tamim was way short of his crease. Anamul then cut a wide delivery Mohammed Shami to get a four.

Ravichandran Ashwin then struck on the first two deliveries he bowled in the fourth over. He dismissed Tamim Iqbal for six as Suresh Raina caught him. Then Shamsur Rahman was out for a first-ball duck as he gave a catch to Rohit Sharma at deep mid-wicket. Ashwin could not take his hat-trick though.

Bhuvneshwar then bowled Shakib Al Hasan on the first ball of the fifth over. Shakib had to depart for one run off two deliveries. He inside-edged a length delivery onto the pads and then the ball hit the stumps. Ashwin bowled one on the off side and Anamul hit it over extra-cover for a four. Ravindra Jadeja came into the attack in the seventh over after the end of the powerplays.

Anamul then edged one past short third-man for a four off Jadeja. Mushfiqur came down the track to Jadeja and edged one through third-man for a four. He then slog-swept one for a four towards deep square-leg. That was the 50 for Bangladesh in the ninth over. Amit Mishra was brought into the attack in the 10th over. Anamul came down the track to Shami and struck a six over wide long-on.

Mushfiqur then cut a short delivery for a four through point. But his hitting did not last long as he pulled a back of a length delivery to Virat Kohli at mid-wicket. Mushfiqur was out for 24 runs off 21 deliveries. Anamul then gave himself room on the off side to Jadeja and hit a six over deep extra-cover. Mishra bowled one outside off-stump and Anamul missed with a flick. The ball was not stopped by Dhoni and it was four byes. He then bowled him for 44 off 43 deliveries.

But a 49-run partnership between Nasir Hossain and Mahmudullah gave Bangladesh a late charge. But Mishra took two wickets off the first two deliveries in the 20th over. First he dismissed Nasir Hossain for 16 stumped. He came down the track and missed the ball. Dhoni simply knocked the bails. Ziaur Rahman then hit one to Jadeja at long-off on the next delivery. Mashrafe Mortaza hit the last ball for a six over deep mid-wicket.
