Hosts Bangladesh struggled with the bat as they managed to just set an average total of 134 against United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Match 3 of the Asia Cup T20 2016 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Friday. Mohammad Mithun was the top scorer with 47 runs, while Amjad Javed and Mohammad Naveed claimed a couple of wickets each to pile pressure on the Bangladesh batsmen. Earlier, UAE skipper Amjad Javed win the toss and elected to field first, as brought in Fahad Tariq for Qadeer, while Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza too made a change in the form of Imrul Kayes, who was replced by Nurul Hasan. Bangladesh started off their innings on a solid note, with the openers in the form of Mohammad Mithun and Soumya Sarkar puting up a strong opening 46-run stand, until the sixth over, when Soumya fell for 21 to Mohammad Shahzad, and with 26 runs added to the total, it was Sabbir Rahman, who fell for mere six to Rohan Mustafa in the 10th over, followed by Mithun for an unfortunate run out after scoring 47 at the score 81, and just a couple of more runs added to the total, it’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiaqur Rahim, who to fell for mere four in the 13th over. Although, it was followed by a decent 29-run stand for the fifth wicket between star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah, before Shakib fell for 13 in the 18th over at the score of 112, and was quickly followed Nurul Hasan for an unfortunate duck of the very next delivery by Amjad Javed, putting him on a hattrick, that was denied by Mortaza. However, he too wouldn;t last long, and fell in the very nextb over to Mohammad Naveed for an unfortunate duck after facing three deliveries, while Mahmudullah along with Taskin batted out the rest of the innings, before Taskin was run out for a single in the final ball, as they finished the innings for a score of 133 for the loss of eight wickets.
