Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selectors have called up a couple of rookies in the form of Mosaddek Hossain and Subashis Roy, for the second and final Test to be played vs visitors England from October 28, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka from Friday. Meanwhile, Shaiful Islam, who played in the opening Test at Chittagong, has been rested for the Dhaka Test. Minhazul Abedin, chief selector of BCB, said that Shafiul was being given some time off, while Mosaddek has been called up as a replacement for Sabbir Rahman, who has not being doing physically well for the past few days. “We have rested Shafiul because he got really tired playing his first Test in a long time. We have called up [Mosaddek Hossain] Saikat as cover for Sabbir, who got sick in Chittagong,” said Minhazul. Mosaddek has been a promising middle-order batsman and has had a good record in the domestic circuit, as he also scored three double-hundreds in 2015. He also made his ODI debut against Afghanistan, where he was impressive with the bat, and his ability to rotate the strike, along with some good bowling and also sound fielding ability. Meanwhile, Subashis has earned his maiden call in test cricket, while he has had 136 wickets in 51 first-class matches so far, reported espncricinfo.com.
