On the road to the Super 10 round of the ongoing ICC World T20 2016, Bangladesh look to take on Ireland, in Round 1 of the Group A, Match 8 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala on Friday. Bangladesh, who won their opening contest against Netherland, in a closely fought game, will aim to come up with an improved performance against Ireland; after their impressive show in Asia Cup T20 2016, Bangladesh are on a mission to make their way clear for the next round. Ireland, on the other hand, made a shocking start to their campaign, being stunned by Oman in a closely-contested match decided in the last over. Still reeling from the wounds, they too would aim to get themselves onto the winning track. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Bangladesh vs Ireland, Group A Round 1, ICC World T20 2016, Match 8 at Dharamsala

Considering the performance in the previous game, Bangladesh, who emerged in a close encounter, put up a fair performance with the bat, scoring 153 for 7 thanks to Tamim Iqbal’s 83. For Ireland, openers William Porterfield and Paul Stirling scored 29 each, along with Gary Wilson, who got 38, to allow Ireland to post a challenging total of 154.

In the bowling department, Bangladesh had a decent contribution from most of the bowlers, especially Al-Amin Hossain and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who claimed a couple of wickets each for 24 and 28 respectively, ensuring Netherlands fell short of the target by 8 runs. For Ireland, Kevin O’brien and Boyd Rankin bowled their hearts out, but Max Sorensen and Tim Murtagh’s wayward bowling and some ordinary fielding cost them the match.

Going by the performances in the previous match, both teams are likely to make a couple of changes. Bangladesh may replace one or both of Arafat Sunny and Taskin Ahmed (both of whom have been reported for suspect action). As for Ireland, Murtagh or Sorensen may have to make way for Stuart Thompson.

With the game being held at Dharamsala and the contest being a night affair, dew will come into play, making it difficult for the spinners to grip the ball. The wind will also assist seam, and it is likely that the side winning toss will put the opposition in and unleash their seamers.
