Nathan Lyon is Australia‘s most successful spinner since Shane Warne. The off-spinner has had a remarkable 2017. Lyon has take 12 wickets so far in the ongoing Ashes at 26.91. However, the spinner is caught in his own web in terms of his personal life. Lyon and partner Mel Waring have been going strong for 10 years now. They even have two kids â son Harper and daughter Milla.
Infact, Mel has been a regular member of the âGirlâs on Tourâ which is part of the Ashes. She travelled with Lyon during the 2015 Ashes and was present even at The Gabba Test last month with the kids. However, as per The Daily Mail the couple have called off their relationship. Reports suggest Lyon has been in an âopen and committedâ relationship with Emma McCarthy, a big shot real estate glamorous blonde.
Before reciting the present incident, let us know the history of Emma. The glamorous Emma was once in a relationship with Lyonâs Ashes teammate Mitchell Marsh. In 2010, they were even photographed together during an IPL event. It was in the same year, Australia won the U-19 World Cup title under Marshâs captaincy.
Coming back to present, Emma was spotted driving to Lyon’s hotel, Perth’s Crown Metropol, picking him up in her A$ 1,20,000 BMW 420i sports coupé and heading to her upmarket four-bedroom home in Mount Pleasant. The couple stayed indoors for several hours before dropping Lyon back to the hotel.
Lyon was photographed kissing Emma inside the car. The incident took place before the third Ashes went underway. Meanwhile, Mel was in Sydney unaware of the new couple meeting up. Reportedly, Lyon and Mel have not opened up about their split for the sake of their kids.
Watching the images floating around and about her separation, Mel told The Daily Mail, âI think seeing his car sitting in the driveway and his washing sitting here, that probably gives you enough of an idea. We have two small children who I have to put first and unfortunately at the end of the day Iâm the one whoâs being f***ed around here.â
Upon hearing the news, Lyonâs father too seemed to be amused, âLyon’s relationship with Melissa was fine as far as he knows. You know more than me.â

Mel, however, has always shown support to Lyon on social media. Her messages have always referred Lyon as âdaddyâ or âour man, our world.â
The news has been picked up by England’s band of fans, Barmy Army particularly. When Lyon entered to bowl, the Army welcomed Lyon with a song written for him on this incident.
England fans have been at the receiving end. Not only they are 0-2 down, Australian cricketers and media have never missed to poke fun at their miseries, starting from Ben Stokes’ street brawl, Jonny Bairstow’s headbutt and more recently the Ben Duckett pub incident.
This is Barmy Army’s way of giving it back.
