BCCI announces Indian squad for New Zealand Test series: Twitter Reactions
With the beginning of a new season in Indian cricket, Team India will be a having a long schedule at home and it will start with the Test series against New Zealand. The squad for New Zealand has already been announced and they have arrived in India too for the preparation, while Indian selectors have also selected the team for this series and as expected, there were no surprising changes in the squad. The series will began on September 22 at Green Park of Kanpur and India will once again play under the captaincy of Virat Kohli and vice-captain will be Ajinkya Rahane.
The exclusion of opener Shikhar Dhawan was expected but somehow he escaped the same. However, not to forget that he played decently in the Caribbean against West Indies in the Test series and looked promising for the next series. There was also buzz about Gautam Gambhir getting selected in the side after his excellent performance in the ongoing Duleep Trophy but that didn’t happen.
Overall, only two players got dropped from the previous Test squad and that because the previous squad was of 17 members and this is of 15. The dropped players are Shardul Thakur and Stuart Binny, who didn’t get any chance to play in India’s last Test series.
India Test squad: Virat Kohli (C), KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Murali Vijay, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan, Amit Mishra, Umesh Yadav.
The team is very similar to the last series and there no surprising changes. With the news of India squad coming, we present some reactions from social media over the selected team for New Zealand series.
