The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) offered the chairmanship of its Technical Committee to former captain Sourav Ganguly on Monday, after the present chairman, Sunil Gavaskar, requested the board to find his replacement.

“Gavaskar has written to us that he has been on the technical committee for seven years, and it’s time that we search for a fresh face. It is our intention to appoint Sourav Ganguly as the chairman of the technical committee. We haven’t yet been able to contact him, but hopefully he will give his consent,” said N Srinivasan, who took over as BCCI president from Shashank Manohar.

Ganguly is also the chairman of Cricket Association of Bengal’s Cricket Development committee that also stars yesteryears cricketers Arun Lal, Ashok Malhotra and Pranab Roy.
