BCCI President N Srinivasan on Monday denied making comments that teams like Australia and England cannot beat the Men in Blue on the Indian soil.

“This is with reference to some comments attributed to me (“They cannot beat us here and we will feel very happy”), with reference to the tours to be undertaken by England and Australia to India in the 2012-13 season, which are being carried by sections of the media,” Srinivasan said in a statement.

After India’s series defeat against Australia, some sections of the media on Sunday quoted the BCCI chief as saying: “Next New Zealand is coming to India and it will be followed by England and Australia. We will beat these three teams on our own soil. They cannot beat us here and we will feel very happy.”

“I would like to make it clear that I have not made these statements to any mediaperson or media organisation. The claims that I have done so are baseless and totally false,” Srinivasan clarified on Monday. (AFP)
