Star Indian batter Shreyas Iyer suffered a ruptured spleen and rib cage injury during the final of the ODI series between India and Australia. However, Shreyas is stable now, there is improvement in his condition now and he has been moved out of the ICU at a Hospital in Sydney.
However, Shreyas Iyer is one of the most important player for the Indian team and the BCCI medical team will continue to oversee his recovery over the next few days. Meanwhile, the Indian cricket board is reportedly making arrangements for Iyerâs sister, Shresta, to travel to Sydney to be with him during his recovery period.
The Times of India reported on Wednesday that the BCCI plans to fly Shresta to Sydney “to join and help Iyer out there soon.”. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, in an interview with a national daily, confirmed that Dr. Rizwan Khan, the Indian team doctor, has stayed back in Sydney to oversee Shreyas Iyerâs treatment and recovery process. Saikia assured that Iyer is receiving the best possible medical care, as he has been admitted to one of the top hospitals in Sydney.
âThe BCCI has done its best to help Shreyas out. The BCCIâs doctor (Rizwan) is totally focused on Iyerâs treatment and recovery there. Shreyas has been put up in the best hospital in Sydney (St Vincentâs Hospital),â Saikia said.
