The Working committee meeting held by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had many important issues addressed by the board members that were related to India s downfall in the ongoing Test series against England.

On request of anonymity, a BCCI official informed Indian Express that all members agreed Zaheer Khan is one of the most valuable players in the Indian team, and played a major role in India winning the World Cup, rise in Test cricket, etc.

He said, “We became the No. 1 Test team in the world, we have won the World Cup. The World Test Championship should be our next target. Zaheer is our main bowler and henceforth we want to use him judiciously.”

The member added that considering Zaheer s age factor, it would be wise if BCCI uses his services judiciously.

He said, “It s not that every time when Zaheer bowls he bags a truckload of wickets. But he is a reassuring presence for the other members of the bowling unit. With Zaheer in the team, the attack looks completely different.

“The problem is, he is injury-prone and is not getting any younger. He has to be selective in playing matches. From our side we will do what needs to be done. At the moment we feel he should concentrate mainly on Test cricket.”
