Sachin Tendulkar’s final Test series is something that no cricket fan in the world would like to miss. And if one gets a personalised message from the batting legend, the joy is multiplied manifold. As the Little Master’s final Test series began at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) launched its unique initiative to send personalised picture of Sachin Tendulkar along with his autograph for fans, on the social networking website Twitter.

The BCCI asked Tendulkar fans to send a message to it Twitter account (@BCCI) and  with a hashtag #ThankYouSachin, following which they’ll receive a photo of Tendulkar along with his autograph and a personalised message.

BCCI tweeted before the start of the first Test at Kolkata, “News:During this Test series, tweet a message for Sachin to @BCCI with #ThankYouSachin & we will tweet you a personalized picture of Sachin.”

“Get the full collection and keep tweeting #ThankYouSachin . We will keep on adding more messages/pics as the series progresses,” it added.

The #ThankYouSachin hashtag was on top of the trends at the time of writing this piece.

This is arguably the first genuine attempt by the world’s richest body to acknowledge the fan – those who contributed big time in making the players and the BCCI so big – is important to them and acknowledging in a subtle way. If these are winds of change in the BCCI, then the Indian cricket fan is heading for good times.

Well done, BCCI!
