Senior Vice President of the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) Dr Shekhar Salkar will represent GCA in the working committee meeting of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), scheduled to be held on September 26. Majority members of the association’s managing committee passed a resolution through circulation last evening, which was signed by 11 out of 15 members, a copy of which is with PTI. It said that Salkar will represent GCA for the BCCI working committee meeting to be held on September 26.
Earlier, GCA’s managing committee in its resolution had stripped President Vinod Phadke of all the rights to participate in the BCCI meeting and even take the crucial decisions for the association. The cricketing body was served a notice by Goa government threatening derecognition for failing to adhere to the recommendations of Pendse Commission, set to probe the 2001 India-Australia cmatch ticket scam.

The commission had recommended that Phadke who is indicted in the inquiry and currently facing a court case should not be allowed to participate in the affairs of GCA. Phadke had refused to step down claiming that he has support of BCCI.
