Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has defended his claim that Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was scared of him.

In his recently released autobiography, aptly titled ” Controversially Yours”, the Pakistani cricketer had claimed, among other things, that Tendulkar was scared of his blistering pace , and lacked the ability to finish matches in the initial stages of his career.

“Everything is there in the book. I haven’t lied. It is the truth. I have written whatever I have felt was right,” the Pakistani bowler said in an interview to NewsX.

Tendulkar had responded by saying it was below his dignity to respond to such allegations.

” Has he said that?” asked Akhtar. “If Sachin has said that, then it is below my dignity to respond to his comment..”

Shoaib’s claims that Tendulkar was scared of him and that Rahul Dravid and Tendulkar were not match winners drew criticism from all corners, and BCCI vice president Rajiv Shukla has demanded that the Pakistani speedster apologise to Tendulkar.

“With both the players reaching new heights in international cricket, whatever Shoaib has written is distasteful. He must apologise to both Tendulkar and Dravid,” Shukla said.
