Duckett makes record in history of Champions Trophy
England’s Top-order batter Ben Duckett etched his name in the books of history on February 22, as he became the first batter to score 150 runs in the history of tournament. During England’s Champions Trophy 2025 opening match against Australia, the English batter secured a massive World Record as he achieved the feat in 132 deliveries.
Ben Duckett’s splendid innings against Australia saw him score total of 165 runs in 142 balls, a score that has helped him step over the previous record held by New Zealand’s Nathan Astle. Nathan scored an unbeaten score of 145 for New Zealand against USA at the Oval in 2004.
This innings also marked the first time a batsman reached more than 150 runs in the history of tournament. The aggressive batting style by Ben saw a series of boundaries, which saw 17 fours and three sixes, helping England to a total of 351/8.
Duckett player in such a flawless manner, which kept the Australian bowlers under constant pressure, a pressure that was getting harder and harder to handle for the team. Eventually, his game was brought to an end during the 48th over when Marnus Labuschagne relieved the team from this pressure and dismissed the star batter.
