Ben Stokes future with the England cricket team seems to be in a limbo with the police investigation going nowhere. The police are still awaiting statements from two specific witnesses to go ahead and charge Stokes in the street-brawl case.

With The Ashes 2017-18 just round the corner, Stokes and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are running out of time as they are to renew Stokes central contract come Friday. According to a report in dailymail.co.uk, the police made an appeal to the witness to come forward, but they seem to be in oblivion.

Stokes, 26, was arrested by Avon and Somerset Police for allegedly punching an ex-British Army personnel out a Bristol pub. He was released in a couple of hours. He was later suspended from playing any form of cricket by ECB, following the brawl video going viral.

If no charges are levelled against Stokes soon, the matter will go to Crown Prosecution Service, which will then decide the English all-rounder s future.

Stokes was named in the England Test squad for The Ashes 2017-18 but was later withdrawn by ECB.

Many former cricketers across the board have asked Stokes to change his behaviour going ahead. Mind games have already started between England and Australia in the media on how England will cope in Australia without Stokes.
