Ben Stokes has been banned from playing for England courtesy a brawl outside Bristol bar in September. Not picked for the Ashes in Australia, Stokes still is in the southern hemisphere, keeping match-fit in New Zealand. The Christchurch-born Stokes is playing domestic cricket for his birth-province Canterbury but he has failed to make a mark in New Zealand.

Stokes has managed to score only 36 runs in his 3 innings. He has been ineffective with ball as well picking only a wicket in 3 matches. Stokes was run out for a golden duck on Sunday while playing for Canterbury against Northern Districts and earlier managed to pick his first wicket in The Ford Trophy. His 10 overs cost Canterbury 56 runs. He got the wicket of Anton Devcich.

Canterbury have lost all their three matches in this 50-over competition. Stokes has been drafted in England’s ODI squad. The 5-match ODI series between England and Australia will start from January 14.
