Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was among the players nominated for the fifth LG People’s Choice Award that is to take place in the 11th edition of the LG ICC Awards.

The players nominated for the award are the Meerut-born pacer Bhuvneshwar alongside Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews, Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson, South African bowling spearhead Dale Steyn and England Women‘s captain Charlotte Edwards, according to a media release from the governing body for international cricket.

The winner of the award is decided by cricket fans and is among the several awards that constitute the awards ceremony. The fans can vote for their favourite player this year either through the website www.lgiccawards.com or by tweeting the name of their player along with the hashtag #lgiccawards. The voting has been declared open and will be on till midnight (UAE time) on October 30. The winner of the award, alongside the recipient of the other awards shall be announced on November 5 at a press conference at the ICC headquarters in Dubai.

The five players were shortlisted by an a panel that consisted of the likes of ICC Cricket Comittee Chairman and former India leg-spinner Anil Kumble, former England cricketer Jonathan Agnew, former Sri Lankan opener Russell Arnold, ex-New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming and former Chair of the ICC Women’s Committee Betty Timmer.

The earlier recipients of this award were Sachin Tendulkar (2010), Kumar Sangakkara (2011 and 2012) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (2013).
