The Adelaide Strikers squad received major boost by the signing up of popular Dutch all rounder, Ryan ten Doeschate. He was included as a replacement player for the upcoming KFC T20 Big Bash season.
Kieron Pollard won’t be able to participate in the second half of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2014-15 season due to international commitments with the West Indies to prepare for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2015 and ten Doeschate will come in to make up for his departure, Big Bash League official website reported.
The batting all rounder has international experience of 33 One-Day International (ODI) matches under his belt with an enviable batting average of 67 and announced himself to the world in the 2011 World Cup, scoring 2 centuries. He has also featured for Netherlands in 9 T20I’s again boasting an average of 42.80.
Ever since, he has built on an amazing T20 record, maintaining a strike rate of 138.57 playing in domestic leagues of India, New Zealand, England, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
He has featured in the previous format of the Big Bash, playing for Tasmania and is excited about returning down under to absorb the fun of the new format.
Ten Doeschate believes Australia presents the most challenging conditions for cricketers. “I would say that it is the toughest competition of all of the T20 competitions. In the IPL, the conditions are very tough, but I think as a level of competitiveness, I think Australia is the toughest,” he told.
“I feel like I want to come here and do well to be content in myself that I can do it at this level, which is probably the only one which I haven’t really conquered” he added.
While he admires the Adelaide Oval, he has never yet been presented an opportunity to play there. “Obviously it is an iconic ground in its old state and I have been watching the renovation over the last few years,” he said. I don’t know much about the city, so I’m looking forward to exploring and finding out for myself what it is all about.”
