Just days after reaching Melbourne, the England batsman Kevin Pietersen will go back home to support his wife as the couple is expecting their second child. The batsman for Melbourne Stars will play the first two matches of Big Bash League 2015-16 (BBL) on Friday and Sunday against Adelaide and Sydney Thunder at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He will leave on Monday for home, which means he will miss the match against Sydney Sixers on December 27 at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). This was the same case in 2014 where he made his way home to celebrate Christmas with his wife. ALSO READ: Kevin Pietersen terms South African T20 experience with Titans as really special

As per cricket.com.au, the team is hopeful that he will return by January 2 to face Melbourne Renegades. Earlier in 2010, Pietersen flew back from ICC World Twenty20 to be present for the birth of his first child. Pietersen may be divisive in his game, but he has proved his performance in Big Bash League 2014 where he was the top-scorer for his franchise. Star’s vice-captain James Faulkner mentioned to Fox Sports, “He’s different …you either love him or you hate him. I think last year during the Big Bash a lot of fans actually started to really love him.” ALSO READ: Ming Li becomes 1st Chinese cricketer to take part in Big Bash League

Pietersen had a productive T20 stint at South Africa, though his team KwaZulu-Natal Dolphins lost the final but Pietersen managed to score two centuries in the tournament with a total of 401 runs at an impressive average of 80.20. Star’s captain said, “He’s going well. He’ll have a hit today in Adelaide and I think he’ll be ready to go. He had a bit of a run around yesterday, had a massage and just chilled out.”
