Big shocker for the Indian team after the first ODI match against New Zealand on Sunday. After Rishabh Pant, another star player from the Indian team has been ruled out of the series due to an injury.
Team India won the first match of the ODI series against New Zealand by 4 wickets with one over remaining. However, the star performer of the game was Virat Kohli as he smashed 93 runs helps the Indian team to chase the target easily. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer also scored precious runs to register victory in the opener of the series.
However, there’s one big shocker for the Indian team as the star player and one of the greatest all-rounders, Washington Sundar, is ruled out of the remaining ODI series due to a rib injury, which he suffered during the first game between both teams.
While batting in the last overs. He was also seen in deep pain. Sundar wasn’t able to play shots and instead of playing big hits, he prioritized finding singles and doubles. However, this is the second incident in the same series as the first player was Rishabh Pant, who got ruled out of the series due to a side strain.
“Washington has been ruled out due to onset on discomfort in his left lower rib area,” a BCCI official told PTI. “Washington Sundar has a side strain and will go for a scan after the match,” Gill said at the post-match presentation.
The next match of the three-match ODI series will be played on January 14th. However, this game will be very important for New Zealand as if they win this match, the series will still alive. On the other hand, if the Indian team win the game, they will seal the series.
