The unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) Secretary Aditya Verma, whose legal action led to N Srinivasan stepping aside as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President in the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Bihar unit. He was inducted into the party by Bihar BJP chief Mangal Pandey.

Mehta hit the headlines by taking the BCCI to court seeking an independent probe into the IPL spot-fixing scandal. The Supreme Court constituted the Justice Mudgal committee to investigate the matter while asking Srinivasan to step aside as BCCI President till the probe was completed.

“I want to draw your kind attention against violation of code of ethics by ICC and president of BCCI , N Srinivasan. I have already sent three letters to ICC officials regarding the honourable Supreme Court of India’s 28.3.14 order. The highest court of India has stopped Srinivasan from discharging his duties as BCCI president,” Verma had written in a letter addressed to ICC’s ethics officer.
